Restaurant Johann Grill in Berchtesgaden

Great restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere and great staff. The food tastes fantastic and individual dietary requirements are taken into account. Gladly again :-)

Food is highly overpriced and bad and service is mediocre. Complained about the beef being dry as a bone but got charged the full price. When I complained about it afterwards, waiter's reaction was "why didn't you tell us immediately", not offering to not charge it or not even apologising. Such reaction is not acceptable and unprofessional. Vegan main course option was a joke, being the most basic tomato sauce pasta while setting us back 26 Euros. Waiters never refilled empty wine glasses even though the multiplier on retail wine prices is horrendous. Not recommended.

The view from the terrace is indescribably beautiful at sunset. From the friendliness of the service to the food, everything went well. The recommended wine went perfectly with the saddle of beef. And to finish off a good dinner, we ate the variety of desserts. I can only say that it was really successful.

Painfully average experience. While the hotel and the view are spectacular, we were let down by the slow service and very average food in the restaurant. The staff was friendly, but very inconsistent as we dealt with three waiters during our dinner. Drinks were great, but the food was bland and highly overpriced for what it was.

Sweet Dinner Time....

The best dinner we had in a while! Good service and outstanding food. We had the Steak Tatar and Tagliolini with Perigord truffle as a starter, duck breast with sous vide red cabbage and the white halibut with cream cabbage as main course, and the Gewürztraminer parfait with financier as dessert. The courses were very well balanced, superbly cooked and perfectly seasoned. I thought the halibut with cabbage and pear was and interesting combination which worked so well that I will be craving it for time to come. The only slightly disappointing thing was the financier which wasn’t moist and fresh tasting as it should have been. Otherwise the dessert was very good. Thank you!

Restaurant Johann Grill is part of the Kempinski Hotel in Berchtesgaden. The selection of food, the service and the friendliness in this restaurant are absolutely great. Every single dish tasted really good and was very well presented. In this category, the food costs a bit more, which is absolutely justified here when eating. What I personally disagreed with are the prices of the drinks. For a cyclist 6.50 or a bottle of water 8.50 too long I do not find justified. These drinks taste the same everywhere and are available everywhere in the same quality. This has made a star deduction for the end.

Exclusive kitchen, perfect ambience and a great staff. Day appetizer char with cucumber and Radie, perfect. Then had Wiener schnitzel and duck breast. Everything really top. But the big hit was beef fillet from Waging, I mean I can gauge when a meal is really good. But here nothing comes to mind, just a pleasure. Thank you.

Surprisingly good! We expected a grill+ restaurant, but were misinformed by the name. 🙈😁 Especially the main course was superb, very tasty. Nice details. Good wines.
